The 13U Bears emerged victorious from the Challenge Cup this weekend, defeating the Listowel Legionnaires 19-5 in a decisive championship game.
The Bears' road to victory wasn't without its challenges. After a tough opening game loss to the Brantford Red Sox (11-4), the team bounced back in a big way, racking up wins against the Wallaceburg Warriors (19-1) and the St. Mary's Rockies (14-1).
Their true grit was on display during a nail-biting semi-final against the Thorold A's. Down by three runs in the bottom of the 7th, the Bears rallied to tie the game at 7-7, forcing extra innings. With their bats on fire, they outscored Thorold in the extra frame to secure a spot in the finals with an 11-8 win and hand the A's their first loss of the tournament.
The championship game against the Listowel Legionnaires was a display of offensive dominance by the Bears. They continued their hot hitting, putting up 19 runs while their defense held the Legionnaires to just 5.
This impressive win showcases the 13U Bears' resilience and their ability to rise to the challenge.
Congratulations to the champions!
