U9 Rep Bears are Southern County Champs !!!!
Written by Troy Vanderburg.
This past weekend the U9 Bears competed in the Southern County Championships in Aylmer. The Bears came in 3rd place in their league but were coming into the tournament with confidence.

The Bears first opponent was the Delhi Tigers on Friday night. The Bears came ready to play and were no match for the Tigers beating them 17-2.
The next game on Saturday morning was against a tough Port Dover Team. The Bears were up to the task and came out of the game with a 12-5 win.
They were now off to the undefeated game against a strong Simcoe team that came first in the league. The Bears battled hard but when the dust settled they were on the wrong side of a 10-2 score.
This would put the Bears into Sunday where they would meet Port Dover for a second time. With the Bears playing near perfect defense and the bats going, Dover never stood a chance going down 15-5.
This would put the Bears up against the first place Simcoe team who they would have to beat twice. It didn't start good for the bears as after the first 3 innings they were trailing 11-1. With a well timed Defensive time out the coaches were able to get all the players calmed down and focused on that we were not out of this game. This got the Bears going scoring 19 runs in the next 3 innings and winning the game 22-14.
With the team knowing that they could beat this team they were ready for game two. Simcoe had the lead after 3 innings by a score of 4-1 but the Bears knew that they were not out of it. They started hitting the ball and after the 4th were leading 5-4. The next 3 innings the Bears defense stayed strong not giving up a run while scoring six more going up 11-4. It was off to the bottom of the 7th inning. The Bears bent but didn't break only giving up 2 runs to win the game 11-6.
These boys played their hearts out all weekend. Their Defense and Batting were second to none and they came together as a team. The coaches are lucky to have such a great bunch of kid.
The team would also like to thank all the family and friends that came out and cheered on their team for the whole weekend!!! GO BEARS !!!!!
